Light It Up Blue for Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance month, a time to promote acceptance and celebrate people with autism as family members, friends, classmates, co-workers, and community members making valuable contributions to our world. In celebration, Ontario ARC will partner with local YMCAs to Light it Up Blue throughout the month of April.
Beginning April 2nd, be on the lookout for blue lights as Ontario ARC and local area YMCA organizations partner to Light It Up Blue for Autism Acceptance Month. For the fourth year in a row, Ontario ARC is proud to partner with Canandaigua Family YMCA, Clifton Springs Family YMCA, Geneva Family YMCA, and Victor YMCA to Light It Up Blue on Monday, April 2nd for World Autism Awareness Day and on Wednesdays in April. Information on autism and services in Ontario County will be available at each of these sites.
Ontario ARC staff will help spread awareness and encourage acceptance by wearing blue and dressing down on Wednesdays in April.
You can take part in Light It Up Blue, too! Consider changing your outdoor or indoor bulbs to blue! You can also raise awareness by wearing your blue clothes throughout the month of April and encouraging friends and family to do the same. Keep the conversation going by sharing on social media!
